I have been organizing tapas tours
for the last 11 years. On 2011 I did a tapas tour for an
American college that surpassed all my expectations. The tour
included:
• My two favorite neighborhoods in Madrid: Lavapies and
The Hapsburgs.
• My favorite apéritif: Vermú de grifo.
• My four favorite tapas: Cocido Madrileño, rabo de toro,
Migas and Soldaditos de Pavia.
•My favorite food & wine pairing: Pedro Ximenez with
Cabrales cheese.
• Five of my favorite eateries: 1895 historical tavern,
endearing traditional tavern tavern, modern seafood bar,
Michelin star restaurant and Mercado de San Miguel.
The tour was a total success but what gave me the definite push
to launch it on the internet was that I could offer it at price
unheard of in Spain, only 30 euros.
